Whisked Light is inspired by the shifting skies over Herefordshire. The landscape becomes less defined in these moments of twilight, as colour and light begin to take over.
Built through layers of marble dust and restrained pigment, the painting explores that sense of transition. The surface is worked and reworked, allowing textures to gather and break apart, echoing the feeling of light being dispersed, lifted and carried across the sky.
The title reflects both process and image, paint whisked and moved across the surface, but also the sky itself, as if light has been stirred into it.
It is a painting concerned with fleeting moments, where structure gives way to atmosphere and something ordinary becomes quietly luminous.
