This painting is inspired by a view from my home in Ledbury. I love those moments when the light seems reluctant to leave the day behind, catching the edges of clouds and creating warm golden tones across the sky. It often feels as though every colour exists in these fleeting moments.
The darker clouds allow the remaining sunlight to shine more brightly, creating streaks of light and colour before the day finally gives way to evening. It is this contrast between light and shadow that continues to draw me back to the landscape.
This painting is made using oil paint and forms part of an ongoing series exploring the changing atmosphere, light, and movement of the sky.
